Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services. The team is responsible for designing, building and operating our unified global datacenters; managing the demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure; and all of the operations needed to run the physical infrastructure (including supply chain, hardware, power, security, and workflow teams). We focus on smart growth with an emphasis on automation, data driven engineering, cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability.
We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 160 datacenters and 2 million servers. Our portfolio is built and managed by a team of subject matter experts working 24x7x365 to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.
We are currently seeking a Regional Environmental Compliance Program Manager who has experience in the management of environmental compliance programs, with a strong emphasis on air, waste management and water quality permitting (within EU and member states, particularly Amsterdam, Netherlands), compliance and enforcement rules and procedures, management of reputational issues, and a fundamental understanding of environmental management systems.
This is a highly influential position reporting to the Environmental Compliance Director. Position location is in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Responsibilities:
Duties of the Environmental Compliance Program Manager:
Manages environmental compliance planning and implementation program for operating sites.
Conducts environmental compliance assessment and communicates assessment findings to operations teams.
Supports operations personnel in completing regulatory obligations and addressing permit requirements.
Monitors development of legislative changes in EMEA sites including Amsterdam, analyze potential impacts on operations, and provide updates to the site teams.
Interprets environmental standards, regional regulations & site permit requirements to assure compliance and management of risk.
Interacts with facility personnel, company management, legal counsel, environmental sustainability team, and other relevant internal stakeholder to communicate environmental requirements, identify compliance issues, act as a technical resource, and coordinate on key initiatives.
Defines and implements necessary training for facility operations personnel for managing environmental issues.
Supports site incident investigations.
Defines and tracks key performance indicators related to environmental compliance initiatives.
Identities, engages, and manages consulting resources to support environmental compliance objectives. Supports facility permitting and reporting activities.
Interacts with regulatory agency personnel on major environmental issues.
Profil
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or environmental management or related field.
- Extensive experience with environmental regulations (including air and water permitting, hazardous chemicals management/reporting, hazardous waste management and transportation (ADR), battery handling and recycling programs, spill prevention and control program) is required.
- Strong experience in environmental permitting and compliance management.
- Experience in Amsterdam, Netherlands environmental regulations within industry and/or consulting discipline
- Experience and the ability to fully demonstrate track record in developing environmental strategies, management systems, and policies.
- Ability to identify, develop, and evaluate solutions to complex environmental regulatory issues, root cause investigation and corrective action.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people in a variety of disciplines though all levels of an organization. Being able to provide in-person training when necessary.
- Experience with regulatory database
- Willingness to travel within the Europe/Middle East/Africa region
- The ability to speak Dutch
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in engineering or environmental sciences
- Experience in a fast-paced, global organization or Data center is a plus.
